Why I Began Seeking Answers

I was initially told that Andreas had been found dead in his office and had been found at the end of the day by a client. I was also told that an autopsy had been performed and that he had been buried on the same day. I found this account difficult to understand, so I contacted the Prosecutor’s Office, which subsequently initiated a suspicious-death investigation.

The Investigation

After the investigation was completed, I was informed that the file had been archived. I was then given a completely different account: that Andreas had died in hospital and that no autopsy had been performed for that reason. This was the first time I had ever heard this version of events.

Missing Documentation

I later obtained a copy of the investigation file from the Prosecutor’s Office. When I reviewed it, I found that important information I expected to see was absent, including the attending doctor’s name and signature, hospital or medical records, and clear documentation establishing the date, time and circumstances of Andreas’s burial.

Our Attempts to Obtain the Missing Documentation

After obtaining the Prosecutor’s file, my cousin George Kambas from Adelaide and I engaged a law firm in Greece to assist us in obtaining the missing documentation. We completed and signed a Power of Attorney authorising the lawyers in Greece to act on our behalf. However, the lawyers later informed us that they had been unable to obtain the requested records because the Registry Office in Nea Triglia stated that there was no proof that either of us was related to Andreas Kambas. This created yet another obstacle in our attempts to obtain the documentation and establish the full circumstances surrounding Andreas’s death.

Lastly

These conflicting accounts and the absence of key documentation raised serious questions for me about the circumstances surrounding Andreas’s death and the adequacy of the investigation. They are the reason I continue to seek answers, transparency and accountability.
